  • 1.25 oz. Absolut Citron 
  • 0.5 oz. Absolut Vodka
  • 2 oz. Grapefruit Juice
  • 2 oz. Cranberry Juice

Shake with ice and pour into collins glass. Fill with club soda, garnish with lemon wedge.

The Red Wall

We let our ID run wild this week with Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.  Keep the wall red with fresh blood, and try not to listen to the voices in your head.  



  • 1 oz Red Rum
  • 1 oz Malibu Rum
  • 1 oz Bacardi Lemon
  • 3 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 2 oz Pineapple Juice
  • Splash of Grenadine

The Vampire

We begin our Halloween celebration.  For the month of October we’re focusing our attentions on the darker side of comics. This week we are discussing the Alaskan Vampire book 30 Days of Book.  A failed screen play, turned into a comic, then optioned for a movie.  Cause that’s how Hollywood works kids.  



  • 1 oz Chambord® raspberry liqueur
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cranberry juice

Combine ingredients in a shaker over ice.  Shake the shit out of it.  Serve as shots in an old-fashioned glass.

Cardiac Arrest

Were taking out our first Manga this week with Death Note, written by Tsugumi Ohba and art by Takeshi Obata,.  An epic cat and mouse game between a brilliant teen who can easily kill just by writing down a name, and the detective determined to catch the killer. 



  • 1 oz Jagermeister
  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 2 oz Red Bull

In a wine glass, stir and server over ice.

Its got some uppers, it got some downers, it's probably not a good idea.

Bombed Out Manhattan

This week we enter the Demilitarized Zone, AKA the DMZ, AKA Manhattan.  The story takes us thru a war torn New York in the center of a second American Civil War. Vertigo presents DMZ, a tale from expertly written by Brian Wood with beautiful Art by Riccardo Burchielli.



  • 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Light Rum
  • 1/2 oz Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 oz Orange Juice
  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz Sweet and Sour

Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice.  Shake until cold, and then strain into a glass of your choice.  

Adams cocktail is a variation on the Long Island Iced tea, and is likely to get you bombed while you read DMZ.

The Wonder Woman

This week we are discussing 2002 Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia. From Greg Rucka and J.G. Jones, this book would begin Rucka’s long run writing Wonder Woman.  We changed up the format a little this week.  In part one we do a spoiler free intro to the book, then in part two we step thru the plot of the book and explore this gem.  Let us know what you think of the format change on our website, or any of our social media outlets.  Next week we are reading Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon.  A modern take on what an Avenger does when he has no suit, no powers, and isn’t Avenging.



2 oz. Midori melon liqueur
2 oz. Peach Schnapps
2 oz. Cranberry Juice
3 oz. Orange Juice
1 oz. Pineapple Juice

 

Fill hurricane glass with ice. Add ingredients in order listed. Don't stir! Should have three layers; green, orange, and red. Garnish with a cherry.

If done right your glass should look like Wonder Woman.  If you do it wrong, You still have a tasty beverage.

With beautiful art by Alex Ross, a script by Mark Waid this DC Elseworlds mini-series made a splash in 1996.  This week we are discussing Kingdom Come.  A futuristic story that deals with the conflict between the out of touch heroes we know, and a new group of dangerous vigilantes.

A Splash of Triple Sec

Shake with ice and strain into a glass.

A Cosmo

This week we stretch our feminist muscle with Bitch Planet.  We read the first collection of this current series by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentine De Landro.  It is both a feminist parody of exploitation films, specifically women in prison movies, and a great commentary on society.  


1.5 oz Vodka
0.5 oz Cointreau
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1.5 oz Cranberry Juice
1 twist lime

Shake all the ingredients together with ice, and then strain out into a glass.  

Todd was connecting with his inner "Sex in the City" gal when he picked this drink.  According to Q, Todd it a Carrie.

1 Part Vanilla Vodka
1 Part Sprite
1 splash of Key Lime Juice
1 Sliced Lemon
Optional: 1 oz Cranberry Juice
Optional: 1 oz Southern Comfort

Combine vodka, sprite and ice in a collins glass, then add the Key Lime juice and stir. Garnish with the lemon.

For a Scott and Emma, combine the cranberry juice and Southern Comfort in a  shot glass to server as a side car to the Emma Frost.
