Ep 136 - The Walking Dead

This Week: Rick Grimes is not prepared for this. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family he must now sort through the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son in the Walking Dead.

Cocktails

Left for Dead

  • 1½ ounces Angel’s Envy Bourbon

  • ½ ounce lemon juice

  • ½ ounce vanilla-orange simple syrup (recipe below)

  • 1 bar spoon Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur

  • 1 tablespoon cut plums

  • 4 mint leaves

  • Mint sprig and dehydrated plum, for garnish

Combine Bourbon, juices, syrup, liqueur, plums and mint leaves in a cobbler shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a coupe. Garnish with mint sprig and dehydrated plum, if desired.

For the vanilla orange simple syrup:

  • 4 vanilla beans, cut in half

  • 2 oranges, peeled and sliced

  • 2 cups organic unprocessed cane sugar

Simmer 2 cups of water, vanilla beans and oranges in a saucepan for 10 minutes. Bring heat up to medium-high heat and slowly add sugar. Once the sugar is added, simmer for an additional 5 minutes. After sugar dissolves, strain and transfer to a squeeze bottle or other container.Yields about 14 ounces.


Braaaaiiiins

1 oz peach schnapps

1 oz Irish cream

2-3 drops Grenadine


Brains Royal

In a shaker

  • 1.5 oz Black Raspberry Chambord

  • 1 oz vodka

  • Splash of pineapple juice

  • Splash of cranberry juice

Fill shaker with ice, shake till frothy, and strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with a twist of orange rind.


The Walking Dead

  • 1-1 1/2oz vodka

  • 1 oz Kahlua

  • 2 oz cream

  • 1 tbsp. Carmel topping

  • 1 tbsp. fudge topping

  • Ice

  • Blood

  • 3 tsp

Fill a cocktail shaker with booze cream and 1/2 of the caramel.

Shake well.

Swirl the remaining carmel, blood, and the fudge around the inside and rim cocktail glass.  Fill with ice. Pour mixture over top
